THE 0PEN EYE THEATER READIES FOR SUMMER SHORTCUTS VII
ATTENTION ALL ACTORS & DIRECTORS
Final script selections are being made for a program of ten-minute plays to be performed on stage later this month at The Open Eye Theater in Margaretville NY. A record number of submissions were received this year from all over the United States, and as far away as New Zealand. Each script has been read by at least two members of The Open Eye selection team, and the list of 224 has been narrowed to about 20, from which 8-10 will be selected for production. Announcement of final selections is expected early next week.”
“What’s especially fun about Summer Shortcuts is that we are staging up-to-the-minute creative works from several playwrights who live here in the Catskills--and some from far away.” says Amie Brockway, producing artistic director. “The plays give us a glimpse at what these artists are thinking about--today.”
Actors from ages 10 to 80-plus are needed to fill the various roles, as well as directors to stage the plays, and stage managers. Those interested should contact the theater before August 8 at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Summer Shortcuts VII” in the subject line. Each play will have a total of 10 hours of rehearsal in a flexible schedule beginning August 11. Performances are at The Open Eye Theater, 960 Main Street, Margaretville, August 24 – September 3, Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 and Sundays at 3.
