Young Ruth worked at the family dairy store while dreaming of becoming a pilot. Flying was all she could think of. Following her heart she became a member of WASP - Women Airforce Service Pilots. The true story of Ruth Franckling Reynolds, WWII veteran and Congressional Gold Medal honoree.

THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS
ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS

The production opened Off-Broadway in 1970 and on Broadway in 1971, winning a Drama Desk Award as well as the 1971 Pulitzer Prize. A film by Paul Newman and starring Joanne Woodward followed in 1972. This autobiographical play follows shy teenager Tillie, navigating the dysfunctional waters of her household while clinging to science as her lifeline. Encouraged by her science teacher she experiments with radiation on marigolds. She enters and wins her high school science fair, bringing her newfound hope and confidence, proving that one can triumph in the face of life’s adversities.

Based on Norwegian folk tales, the story follows Katrina in her quest to find her Bear/Prince held captive by the evil Troll Princess. Along the way she meets three wise women whose stories help her find her way and ultimately herself. Performed with live sound effects.

THE TEMPEST

The Open Eye Theater hosted the Catskill Mountain Shakespeare Company with their touring production of The Tempest
The Tempest follows the struggles and successes of Prospero and his teenage daughter Miranda who live on an isolated island with a creature called Caliban and a sprite called Ariel. The story begins with a sea storm and a shipwreck. Old foes and family rivals must face the truth of the past. Meanwhile, clowns Trinculo and Stephano run amok and young love blooms between Miranda and Ferdinand.
